There’s a man in the window
His face lost in lines
Unwanted wisdom
A reflection in time
The station is silent
The crowd knows where to go
All he can hear
Is the sound of tomorrow
CHORUS
There’s no one home
Not even in my heart
I looked for you today
Because I’m falling
Minutes and years
They’re all the same
Without your voice
I don’t even have a name
The sunset is blinding
In color and change
His eyes keep reliving
The youth of his age
There’s no one home
Not even in my heart
I looked for you today
Because I’m falling
MAN IN THE WINDOW: Ian Charles, lead vocals, acoustic guitar, drums/percussion, harmonica; Peter Loss, piano/keyboards; John Burdick, lead electric and acoustic guitar; Jason Sarubbi, fretless bass; Mark Haskins, acoustic guitar
Time and time again
You went against the grain
A rebel with a cause
Whenever you were around
They always put you down
You were just a kid
CHORUS
Life knocks you down
You come right back around
You are my black sheep girl
My black sheep girl
One more time
My sweet pearl
Shine…….
I love the girl
Who made this world her own
Found your dream, fooled the fools, yeah, yeah
CHORUS
Life knocks you down
You come right back around
You are my black sheep girl
Love my black sheep girl
Always be my world
Forever, my black sheep girl
BLACK SHEEP GIRL: Ian Charles, lead and backup vocals, drums; Peter Loss, piano, organ; John Burdick, lead guitar; Jason Sarubbi, electric bass; Rebecca Coupe Franks, trumpet; Mark Haskins, acoustic guitar; Jessie Casella, backing vocals
I was wondering, would you mind?
If I loved you all the time?
Not just a little like now
You’ll give me a reason somehow
Could it be the way you walk?
I’m all yours when you talk
The warmth of your touch
The way you look at me is too much
CHORUS
Can I wait for you to tell me?
Will I make it through the day?
I’m wishing, hoping, just a little
That you feel the same way
I don’t want to miss the chance
Maybe this is a real romance
Can’t imagine a minute
Without you
I don’t want to impose
If you only love me just a little
You might have other plans
But I’ll be stuck here in the middle
CHORUS
Can I wait for you to tell me?
Will I make it through the day?
I’m wishing, hoping, just a little
That you feel the same way
JUST A LITTLE: Ian Charles, lead vocals; Peter Loss, piano, keyboards; Jason Sarubbi, upright bass
Bagpipes sing across the river
The 9:15 thunders past
The stillness of the water
A mirror
The girl can hardly smile
Fearing things to come
A lone balloon rises in the sky
Escaping where she’s from
CHORUS
Quiet bridges that bring no one
A voice is whispering, but you’re gone
My knee’s in the sand
I fumble for the ring
There was a time in my life when what I had
Was everything
For a storm to embrace me
The calm darkened sky
The uncaring clouds raining down
Good bye
QUIET BRIDGES: Ian Charles, lead and backup vocals, drums; Peter Loss, piano, Mellotron, keyboards, 12-string acoustic guitar; John Burdick, lead guitar; Jason Sarubbi, bass; Mark Haskins, acoustic guitar
Shadows move with the sunrise
Tell me that time doesn’t care
Memories wash my eyes
Is there peace somewhere?
Parkway lights dance on my hood
Sabers in a fight to the end
The hands of time
Have turned on me for good
CHORUS
So much gained
So much lost
So much love at
Such a cost
A song takes me back
This load is so dear
Despair never asks to take
What is yours
CHORUS
So much gained
So much lost
So much love at
Such a cost
So much gained
So much lost
So much love at
Such a cost
SUCH A COST: Ian Charles, lead and backing vocals; Peter Loss, piano, keyboards
The houses are all empty
Lonesome is my home
My senses are ‘a slipping
I’m on nowhere road
Faceless people moving fast
She sits alone looking down
I can’t find that elusive peace
Here on nowhere road
CHORUS
Nowhere road, yeah, yeah
I’m on nowhere road, can’t carry the load
No one talks, no one hears
Maybe they’re lost like me
It’s all just noise and fears
I’ll never be free
How long will it last?
The days are cruel and slow
One day they will know
This walk on nowhere road
CHORUS
Nowhere road, yeah, yeah
I’m on nowhere road, can’t carry the load
NOWHERE ROAD: Ian Charles, lead vocals, drums/percussion; Peter Loss, piano, keyboards; Jason Sarubbi, electric bass; Rebecca Coupe Franks, trumpet;
One day to the next
Filled with sorrow and doubt
Cry myself to sleep, I can’t
Find my way out
Every place I go
Every child I hold
My soul is cold, to the touch
A heart can’t bear it
CHORUS
The clock is ticking, ticking
To measure a life
Only seconds, seconds
Ticking
The music plays loudly
For Maria to dance
I can hardly believe
We took the chance
Sad days and bad days
Forever between
If only she could have stayed
Life has been…..
CHORUS
The clock is ticking, ticking
To measure a life
Only seconds, seconds
Ticking
TICKING: Ian Charles, lead and backing vocals; Peter Loss, piano, Mellotron, keyboards
I’ve been watching you
It’s become so clear
You’re always walking
Ahead of me
When I need a friend
When I need a friend
Right here
CHORUS
I have so much on my mind
Nowhere to turn
It’s getting harder to chase
Leaves in the wind
Leaves in the wind
Once we held the horizons
Ahead of us
Now it feels like we’re drifting through
Opposite scenes
Love is for those
Strong enough to give
I’m afraid that yours
Is unwilling
CHORUS
I have so much on my mind
Nowhere to turn
It’s getting harder to chase
Leaves in the wind
Leaves in the wind
Leaves in the wind
Leaves in the wind
LEAVES IN THE WIND: Ian Charles, lead vocals, drums, electric guitar; Peter Loss, Fender Rhodes organ, keyboards; John Burdick, lead guitar; Jason Sarubbi, electric bass
Her eyes could stop the falling rain
No words to be found
With hair like the winds of summer
She walked by without a sound
You couldn’t wait to touch me
I wouldn’t let you in
The spring of love came to be
Never alone again
CHORUS
In a second world
Miracles burn
The songbird flies…….from the twists and turns
When will this end, I can’t go on
This road I’m taking
I can’t go on
We chased the moon and stars
Lost and found souls
Just you and me and the universe
You said you had to go
CHORUS
In a second world
In a second world
The songbird flies……
SECOND WORLD: Ian Charles, lead vocals, drums; Peter Loss, Wurlitzer organ, keyboards
See the ride
It’s right around the corner
See the ride
We’re almost there
SEE THE RIDE; Ian Charles, lead vocals, drums; Peter Loss, piano; Jason Sarubbi, electric bass; Spring Rock Singers, backup vocals
So many times I was a fool
I thought you’d leave, but you stayed
Remember when I quit school?
I lost your pride, but you made me see
For a while, it looked like the end
Didn’t think you’d come, you came anyway
Sadness was my only friend
You turned darkness into day
CHORUS
When I’m at my worst
You’re there
You take me away
Somewhere
I pushed, and you pushed back
All I did was run
What ever could you see?
All the other girls, and you loved only me
How could I ever believe
That you were waiting here for me
That two could learn to live
A love that was meant to be
CHORUS
When I’m at my worst
You’re there
You take me away
Somewhere
Remember…………..
